April 9, 2012 – Gwinnett County, Ga. – On Friday, April 6, 2 people were killed and another was wounded in a 4-vehicle car accident.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
reports that the incident happened during the afternoon on Interstate 985, under Ga. 20. A box truck, a Nissan passenger vehicle, a Dodge pickup truck, and a minivan hauling an ATV on a trailer were involved in the accident.

The driver of the box truck lost control, causing it to crash into the Nissan. Both vehicles then collided with the Dodge. The Dodge spun into the median and the Nissan was hit by the minivan’s trailer.

Both people in the Nissan were fatally injured in the crash. They died at the scene.

A person in the pickup truck was injured. That person had to be taken to a nearby hospital for medical assistance. The person’s injuries are said to be non-life threatening.

The names of those involved with the accident have not yet been revealed.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 Georgia Crash Statistics, there were 1,284 fatalities as a result of car accidents in Georgia.
