February 21, 2012 – Cobb County, Ga. – A young girl was injured when she was hit by a pickup truck early in the morning on Wednesday, February 15.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
reports that the incident occurred at about 6:45 a.m. on Booth Road, near the Country Pines Apartments. The 7-year-old girl was struck by a white Ford F-150 pickup truck on the roadway.

Further details of how the accident occurred are not yet available. The driver of the truck did not stop after hitting the little girl. Police are still looking for the suspect.

The girl was transported to a local hospital immediately following the accident. Her injuries have been described as minor. She has already been medically treated and released from the hospital.

The accident remains in the stage of investigation by local police.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 Georgia Crash Statistics, there were 1,284 fatalities as a result of car accidents in Georgia.
