December 15, 2011 – Fulton County, GA – According to a news story published in CBS Atlanta, a late morning car accident on Monday, December 12, left a victim with injuries.
The incident, which involved a tractor trailer and a train, occurred at the tracks near the intersection of Roosevelt Highway and Buffington Road. The collision caused a serious leak of diesel from the semi, spilling as much as 15 gallons of fuel onto the roads. The entire scene caused a shut down of the roads as crews cleaned up the spilled diesel and wreckage.
Reports indicate that a victim was injured in the accident and had to be taken to a nearby hospital for a medical evaluation. The severity of the victim’s injuries is not known at this time.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 Georgia Crash Statistics, there were 1,284 fatalities as a result of car accidents in Georgia.
