January 18, 2012 – Atlanta, Ga. – Details are sparse in a fatal car accident between a tanker truck and a car that occurred on Tuesday, January 17.

My Fox Atlanta
indicates that the fatal incident happened on the ramp onto Interstate 85 from Highway 316. The tanker truck and the car collided on the interstate. Further details of how the accident occurred are not available at the moment, but images from the scene show that most of the car’s front end was underneath the rear of the tanker truck following the crash.

A person in the car was killed as a result of the accident. That person had died on site. It appears that the truck driver was not injured in the accident. No further injuries or fatalities have been reported.

The identities of those involved in the crash have been concealed. The accident remains under investigation.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 Georgia Crash Statistics, there were 1,284 fatalities as a result of car accidents in Georgia.
