August 11, 2011 - Dekalb County, Ga. - A man survived a fiery accident on Thursday, August 4, thanks to the help of a courageous bystander.

Fox 5 News
reports that the accident happened at a Chevron gas station located at the corner of Briarcliff and Fairmont Roads. John Catana was driving on the roadway when his Nissan passenger car was struck by another vehicle, sending him spinning into a gas station.

Catana's vehicle and the gas station burst into flames on impact. His door was jammed and the airbag was pinning him to his seat. The fire was quickly spreading through the vehicle.

Luckily, Edgar Evans witnessed the accident and rushed to help Catana. Evans was able to get Catana out of the vehicle. Catana suffered minor cuts and bruises and credits this good fortune entirely to Evans.

Evans and Catana have been in contact since the accident. Catana said he is happy to know the man who saved his life.
