February 6, 2012 – Canton, Ga. – A crash on Sunday morning, February 5, took the lives of 2 people and seriously injured a 2-month-old baby boy.

reports that the incident occurred at around 11 a.m. on a highway approximately 5 miles west of Canton. Lt. Jay Baker, of the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, said a car was travelling eastbound on the roadway when it suddenly veered into the opposite lane traffic, where it crashed into a westbound pickup truck.

The occupants of the car included Rick Dead Headen, 48, Charlotte Ann Sedtal, 40, and their 2-month-old baby boy. Both Headen and Sedtal were pronounced dead on site.

The baby was taken to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta to be treated for a traumatic brain injury and a fractured leg.

There were 2 people in the pickup truck who also sustained injuries and were transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office is investigating.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 Georgia Crash Statistics, there were 1,284 fatalities as a result of car accidents in Georgia.
