November 3, 2011 - Palmetto, Ga. - An elderly man was arrested on hit and run charges on Tuesday, November 1.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
reports that James Calvin Wood Sr. was arrested after evidence linked his Ford F150 pickup truck to a hit and run accident that left a man in critical condition.

John Turner, 78, was taking his dog for a walk along Carlton Road right before 9:30 a.m. on Friday, October 28, when he was hit by an oncoming truck. Turner was rushed to Grady Memorial Hospital. He remained in the hospital as of Tuesday, still in critical condition.

Turner's dog was found a short time later, unharmed.

Investigators said that the damage to Wood's truck matched evidence at the scene of the accident. Wood was arrested and booked into Fulton County Jail. He spent the night in jail and was released on a signature bond the following day.

Wood's court date is pending.
