December 15, 2011 – Clayton County, Ga. – A Clayton County school bus and 2 passenger vehicles were involved in a crash on December 14.

My Fox Atlanta reports that the morning incident occurred on I-75, near the State Road 138 exit. According to authorities, the bus collided with 2 other cars, causing the northbound lanes of I-75 to be shut down for nearly 2 hours as crews investigated and cleared the scene.

No children were on the bus at the time, and there were no immediate reports of injuries; however, the accident is being investigated to determine what caused the vehicles to collide.

Auto accidents involving school busses can be devastating for many reasons. A loaded bus full of children could result in multiple injuries, while the passenger vehicle, motorcycle, or pedestrian outside the bus may be critically injured due to the size difference. With all of these potential variables, when a serious injury occurs in an accident you should speak to a Georgia accident attorney.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 Georgia Crash Statistics, there were 1,284 fatalities as a result of car accidents in Georgia.

As a service to the residents of Atlanta and surrounding areas, our firm will frequently publish blogs about local traffic accidents. We do this to raise awareness about the common types of motor vehicle accidents that occur in Georgia that may result in serious injury or traffic fatalities.

Common accidents include, but are not limited to:

  • single-car accidents;
  • accidents caused by hazardous road conditions; and
  • accidents caused by aggressive driving or distracted drivers.
