January 10, 2012 – Fayette County, Ga. – A motorcycle accident left a man suffering fatal injuries in the early morning of Saturday, January 7.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
reports that the accident happened shortly after 5 a.m. on Ga. 279, near Ga. 314. Fayette Sheriff’s Major Bryan Woodie said that the motorcyclist was driving a 2009 Honda southbound on the roadway when he lost control and went off the right side of the road.

The motorcyclist attempted to get the vehicle back on the road, but he was unable to do so. The motorcycle ended up crashing into a sign post and a tree.

The motorcyclist, Donnolley A. Reid, 34, of Jonesboro, was thrown from his vehicle on impact. Reid died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident. No further injuries or fatalities have been reported in connection with this crash.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 Georgia Crash Statistics, there were 1,284 fatalities as a result of car accidents in Georgia.
