April 4, 2012 – Clayton County, Ga. – A single-vehicle car accident left a man dead on Monday, April 2.

Fox 5 News
reports that the incident occurred on Interstate 675 on Anvil Block Bridge. According to police, an SUV was travelling on the interstate when its driver lost control at the wheel, causing it to crash into a concrete pillar on the bridge.

The man was killed in the accident. He was pronounced dead on site by officials who were called to the scene.

The identity of the deceased man has not been released publically. But officials have said that he was 56 years old.

No other cars were involved in the collision and there were no other passengers in the SUV. No further injuries or fatalities have been reported.

The root of the accident continues to be determined. Investigations are ongoing.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 Georgia Crash Statistics, there were 1,284 fatalities as a result of car accidents in Georgia.
