April 27, 2012 – Cherokee County, Ga. – Professional wrestler Marcus “Buff” Bagwell was rushed to the hospital after a serious single-vehicle car crash on Monday, April 23.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that the accident happened at about 1:35 p.m. Bagwell, 42, had called his wife to say that he thought he was going to have a seizure before he turned off of Buckhead Crossing onto Running Deer Parkway.

Bagwell’s 2005 Jeep Wrangler struck a curb and continued against the curb for several hundred feet. It appears that Bagwell then attempted to make a sharp left turn, which caused the Jeep to spin out and overturn.

Bagwell was taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital immediately following the accident. Ron Gosset, president of Universal Championship Wrestling, said that Bagwell suffered multiple broken bones in his neck, face, and jaw.

The wrestler was able to open his eyes for a moment, on Wednesday, April 25, and has been able to move his hands and feet, but the extent of his injuries still remains to be determined. Medical officials may have to perform surgery.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 Georgia Crash Statistics, there were 1,284 fatalities as a result of car accidents in Georgia.
