Jason Bolton, spokesman for the Henry County Sheriff’s Department, told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that the crash happened around 2 a.m. on Saturday, March 10, near the intersection of I-75 and I-675.
The vehicle was found at the bottom of an embankment with 3 occupants. Reports indicate that 2 victims were killed, while the third was transported to Atlanta Medical Center with unknown injuries. Bolton has not released the identities of the victims although he did state that police believe they were from Florida.
As investigators review the details of the crash and attempt to contact next of kin, no clues have been revealed to determine the cause of the crash. No other vehicles are believed to be involved and the third victim’s condition remains undisclosed.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 Georgia Crash Statistics, there were 1,284 fatalities as a result of car accidents in Georgia.
