August 15, 2011 - Gwinnet County, Ga. - Two adults and 3 children were taken to the hospital Friday, August 12, when 2 vehicles collided at a Gwinnet County intersection.
WSBTV reported that the accident occurred at the intersection of Five Forks Trickum Road and Brown Road. Two vehicles collided while they were driving through the intersection.
A total of 5 people were hurt in the accident. The 2 adults and 2 out of the 3 children were transported to a local hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries. The third child suffered critical injuries and had to be taken to a separate hospital immediately following the accident.
The identities of those involved in the accident have not been reported. There has been no indication whether or not charges will be filed. The cause of the accident remains to be determined. The accident is under ongoing investigation by officials in Gwinnet County.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 Georgia Crash Statistics, there were 1,284 fatalities as a result of car accidents in Georgia.
