August 23, 2011 - Cobb County, Ga. - A motorcyclist was killed Saturday, August 20, in a fatal hit and run.

reports that the accident happened at about 9:30 p.m. on Interstate 75, near the Windy Hill Exit. A silver Porsche was driving on the interstate when it crashed into a black 1990 Kawasaki Vulcan, throwing the motorcyclist from his vehicle. The Porsche did not stop after striking the motorcycle.

The motorcyclist, Emmanuel Mitchell, 31, of Norcross, was then hit by at least one other vehicle on the interstate. Mitchell was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 23-year-old woman who was driving the second vehicle to strike Mitchell said that she saw the silver Porsche flee the scene. The woman has not been charged in connection with this accident.

Police are searching for the silver Porsche. The Porsche had been described as having tinted windows and moderate damage on the left front of the vehicle.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 Georgia Crash Statistics, there were 1,284 fatalities as a result of car accidents in Georgia.
