April 12, 2012 – Clayton County, Ga. – A person was killed in a fatal accident on Monday, April 9.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
reports that the accident happened at about 11:30 a.m. on Interstate 675 at Anvil Block Road. According to officials with the State Department of Transportation (DOT), a car crashed into the Anvil Block Road overpass.

The accident report indicates that the motorist was killed in the accident. That person died at the scene. The identity of the deceased victim has not yet been released to the public.

A couple northbound lanes on Interstate 675 were blocked to traffic for some time following the incident. All lanes have since been reopened.

The bridge has been inspected and DOT officials said that the bridge was not damaged.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 Georgia Crash Statistics, there were 1,284 fatalities as a result of car accidents in Georgia.
