May 7, 2012 – Paulding County, Ga. – A sheriff’s deputy was injured and a woman was arrested in a 2-vehicle car crash on Sunday, May 6.

Fox 5 News reports that the accident occurred early Sunday morning on Dallas-Nebo Road, close to Smith-Ferguson Road. Officials said that Monica Bennett, 28, was driving on the wrong side of the roadway when she crashed into a deputy’s vehicle.

The deputy, whose identity has not yet been released, was injured in the accident. There has been no word on the extent of his injuries.

Bennett was arrested at the scene. She now is facing charges of DUI, driving on the wrong side of the road and driving with no headlights on. She was released on Bond.

Officials with the Paulding County Sheriff’s Department were on the scene in response to the accident.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2010 Georgia Crash Statistics, there were 1,244 fatalities as a result of car accidents in Georgia.
