September 19, 2011 - Gwinnett County, Ga. - Officials said that a woman who was struck and killed by car in Gwinnett County on Friday, September 16, was under the influence of alcohol at the time.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution indicates that the accident occurred at about 12:45 a.m. on Interstate 85. Jade Christensen, 39-year-old from Buford, had already walked across the northbound lanes of the interstate and was about to cross the southbound lanes when she was hit by a GMC Envoy.
The driver of the Envoy, 64-year-old John Evans, from Donnahue, stopped immediately after striking Christensen and called the police.
Christensen was fatally injured in the accident. She was confirmed dead at the scene by authorities.
Evans was reported not injured in the accident.
Police investigators said the Christensen had alcohol in her system when she was hit. They also said that she was at fault for the accident and that no charges will be filed against Evans.
