April 18, 2012 – Cobb County, Ga. – A woman, a child and an infant were injured when they were struck by a car on Monday, April 16.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
reports that the incident occurred at about 7:45 a.m. on Concord Road, at Hollis Street. Lisa Stark, 25, was pushing her 7-month-old child while her 5-year-old child was walking next to her, when she attempted to cross the 4-lane road to get to a bus stop. The 5-year-old then ran out into traffic and, as Stark ran after the child, all 3 people were hit by a Hyundai Santa Fe SUV.

Stark suffered a broken ankle and has been taken to Wellstar Kennestone hospital for treatment. Both children were transported to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Engleston.

Officials said that alcohol and speed do not appear to have been factors in the accident.

Whether or not charges will be filed remains to be determined. The crash is under ongoing investigation.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 Georgia Crash Statistics, there were 1,284 fatalities as a result of car accidents in Georgia.
