September 15, 2011 - Gwinnett County, Ga. - A motorcyclist died from his injures after he was rammed by a truck during Wednesday evening, September 14.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
reports that the accident happened on Interstate 85 near the I-985 split. The rider on the motorcycle had lost control of his bike after he was hit by a tire tread.

He spun off his motorcycle coming to a rest in the center lane where an oncoming truck was driving. The truck was unable to veer away from hitting the motorcyclist and hit him.

The motorcyclist was transported to Gwinnett Medical Center where he later died. The driver of the truck was not reported injured in the crash.

The truck and the motorcycle were the only vehicles involved in the accident. No further injuries or fatalities have been reported in connection with this accident. It seems no charges will be filed.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 Georgia Crash Statistics, there were 1,284 fatalities as a result of car accidents in Georgia.
