February 2, 2012 – Norcross, Ga. – Injuries are unknown in a car accident involving a car and a truck on Monday, January 30.

A news story on My Fox Atlanta indicates that the accident happened on Interstate 85. Officials said that a car ran underneath a tanker truck in the northbound lanes of the interstate. Additional details of how the incident occurred are not yet available.

A person in the vehicle was trapped inside following the collision. His or injuries are currently unknown. There has been no word on how many people were involved in the accident or how many of those people sustained injuries.

Emergency crews were forced to shut down all lanes at Jimmy Carter Boulevard following the crash, causing major traffic delays through the night. Officials urged drivers to take Buford Highway,Peachtree Industrial Boulevardand other alternate routes until lanes were reopened.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 Georgia Crash Statistics, there were 1,284 fatalities as a result of car accidents in Georgia.
