The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that the accident happened at about 2 a.m. outside of a nightclub in the 6500 block of Tara Road. Several vehicles struck and ran over the woman in the roadway. Further details of how the accident occurred are not yet available.
The woman was killed in the accident. She was pronounced dead at the scene by authorities.
The deceased woman’s identity has not yet been released, but police said that she was 21-years-old. Police said that they will release her name after her family has been notified.
There has been no word on whether or not the driver of the initial vehicle that hit the woman has been found. Officials with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the Clayton Police Department are investigating.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 2009 Georgia Crash Statistics, there were 1,284 fatalities as a result of car accidents in Georgia.
